Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 July 2026. This page describes what data GE IQ (ge-iq.com) collects, why, and where it goes. GE IQ is operated as an independent project and has no login system.
What we do not collect
GE IQ does not ask for an account, email address, or password. It does not connect to your Old School RuneScape account or read anything from the game client. It does not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioural profiling.
Data stored in your browser
Everything you enter into GE IQ (favourites, watchlist, portfolio, alerts, filter settings, tutorial progress, referral code) is saved to your browser's localStorage under keys prefixed with ge-iq-. It stays on your device and is only sent off-device if you explicitly enable cloud sync or make a payment. Clearing your browser storage removes it.
Optional cloud sync
If you use the sync feature to move your data between devices, GE IQ uploads your local settings to a Firebase Realtime Database entry keyed by a random 6-character sync code that you generate. The code is the only credential; anyone with it can read or overwrite that entry. No email or account is attached. You can stop syncing at any time by clearing the code in the app.
Payments
If you subscribe to GE IQ Premium, payment is processed by Stripe. GE IQ receives the sync code you were using when you subscribed, the plan you chose, and Stripe's confirmation that the subscription is active. GE IQ does not receive your card number. Stripe stores your billing information under its own privacy policy. See stripe.com/privacy.
Error reporting
When the app crashes, an error report is sent to Sentry so the bug can be fixed. Reports contain the error message, a component stack trace, and the URL you were on. Sync codes are redacted from URLs before the report is sent. No personal identifiers are attached.
Analytics
GE IQ uses Vercel Analytics to count aggregate page views and referrers. It is first-party, does not use cookies, and does not identify individual visitors. See vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy.
External services the app talks to
- prices.runescape.wiki — public OSRS Wiki real-time pricing API. No account or personal data is sent.
- oldschool.runescape.wiki — item icon images.
- raw.githubusercontent.com — public JSON files used by the Game Updates tracker.
- discord.com — used only if you choose to open a community link.
- formspree.io — used only if you send feedback through the in-app Feedback button. The form ID is fixed and your message plus any email you type into the form is delivered to the project owner.
- api.stripe.com and js.stripe.com — used only if you start a checkout or open the billing portal.
- firebaseio.com — used only if you enable cloud sync.
Cookies
GE IQ itself does not set any cookies. Stripe may set its own cookies while you are on a Stripe-hosted checkout or portal page under its own policy.
Your rights
Because GE IQ does not hold an account for you, there is no user database to look you up in. To delete cloud-synced data, overwrite the sync entry with an empty push or stop using the sync code. To delete a Premium subscription record, cancel through the Account panel and any related data is deleted with the subscription. For anything else, use the Contact page.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of GE IQ after a change means you accept the updated policy.
